Course Description

This newly developed course from NAR on HAFA (Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives) provides in-depth information about the U.S. Treasury, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac programs. Learn the similarities and differences among the three HAFA programs and gain tools to help your clients process short sales more efficiently.

You will be able to:

  • Explain the advantages and disadvantages of HAFA
  • Define the eligibility criteria and basic features of a HAFA short sale
  • Explain which servicers are participating in HAFA
  • Describe the procedure for assisting a seller who wants to apply for the HAFA program
  • List the sequence of steps and time frames involved in completing a HAFA short sale
  • Describe the complete Short Sale Agreement (SSA) process
  • List the eligibility criteria for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac HAFA short sales
  • Describe the Request for Approval of Short Sale (RASS) and Alt. RASS process
  • Describe the similarities and differences between the U.S. Treasury HAFA programs and the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac programs
