Social Networking & Real Estate: June/July Chicago REALTOR ® Sneak Peek
Tech Talk: Social Networking Gives You a Professional Edge
A few years ago, employers viewed social networking Web sites like Facebook with disdain, attributing losses in company productivity to employees logging on from work to “update their profiles” or “find friends.”
Today, however, Facebook is being embraced in the workplace as a valuable business tool, and REALTORS® are among those people using the site to their professional benefit. In addition to forging valuable connections with other REALTORS® or individuals affiliated with the real estate industry, Facebook presents you with an opportunity to reach out to potential clients.
As of April 11, 2008, the Chicago Association of REALTORS® is a member of the Facebook community. In addition to attracting prospective members to C.A.R. and informing them of the benefits of membership, our Facebook page offers members opportunities to build their online network, interact with one another (through arranging carpools to C.A.R. events and classes or exchanging referrals), stay abreast of all upcoming events, and share information on our discussion board.
Thanks to the site’s privacy settings, users can control how much (or how little) information on their Facebook profile is publicly viewable. If you are not a Facebook member, consider whether joining the site is right for you. If you are already a Facebook member, visit our site by entering “Chicago Association of REALTORS” in the search box on the upper left-hand side of the page.
