Past, Present & Future: Reflecting on 50 Years of the Fair Housing Act

Join us as we reflect on 50 years of the Fair Housing Act. Signed into U.S. law in 1968, this monumental Act was one of the many breakthroughs of the Civil Rights Movement. However, even with this Act and expansions through state and local governments, many challenges still exist in the present day.

On Tuesday, October 16th, we welcome several distinguished guests to share the history of fair housing, with a special focus on highlighting personal experiences and the impacts of fair housing discrimination in the Chicagoland area. CAR will also share success stories of fair housing and outline future plans to continue our commitment to combating fair housing violations in the city.

Our keynote speaker will be Bryan Greene, General Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). We will also highlight and chat with CAR’s Industry Partners, fellow REALTORS® and other special guests!

This event is free to all CAR members, but reservations are required. Complimentary cocktails and a networking reception will follow the program.
