Eve L. Benton
Eve L. Benton is licensed as a Pre-License Course Instructor, Continuing Education Instructor and REALTOR®. Her professional background includes real estate sales, personal financial advising and commercial lending where she managed a portfolio of small business relationships that included, but was not limited to, financing equipment, investment property and owner-occupied property. She spent 11 years in the Army National Guard and finished with an honorable discharge as a Commissioned Officer. She holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance. Eve specializes in teaching continuing education courses and broker pre-licensing at RRES.
Carrie Bey, BS, CNC
With almost 20 years in real estate, Carrie has forged her career as a contract trainer for Midwest Real Estate Data as well as a continuing education instructor for the REALTORS® Real Estate School. She is currently a broker associate at Baird & Warner who specializes in single family homes and condominiums. Carrie’s expertise in the Northern Illinois real estate market stems from being a lifelong Illinois resident.
Her specialties in Social Media, Commercial and Residential Real Estate, as well as Marketing and Business Administration elevated her on the national and regional stage. She has educated thousands of real estate professionals using the best MLS tools available in the United States. Carrie specializes in teaching continuing education courses at RRES.
Mitchell E. Chapman, J.D.
Mitchell C. Chapman received his law degree from The John Marshall Law School, in Chicago Illinois. He is the owner of The Chapman Law Group, LLC, located in Evanston, Illinois, a firm that represents individuals and business entities in matters involving real estate transactions, title insurance claims, landlord-tenant issues, bankruptcy, as well as real estate broker defense to civil matters, ethic complaints, and disciplinary actions. Mr. Chapman also represents condominium associations and home owner associations.
Mitchell Chapman is a licensed General Contractor and a Real Estate Broker licensed in Illinois, Arizona and in Florida. He has been teaching continuing education classes and pre-licensure classes since 1996. His class presentations incorporate his experiences as an attorney, real estate broker and general contractor. Mitchell specializes in teaching continuing education courses at RRES.
Lin Ewing has been practicing real estate for over 20 years. She holds an active real estate broker’s license and is a consistent top producer. She has served on many advisory boards and councils and has written numerous continuing education courses for residential realtors. Her teaching background expands from teaching English as a foreign language in Switzerland to teaching continuing education and pre-licensing courses to REALTORS®.
Having moved several times in her life, she specializes in providing quality service that understands the difficult adjustment that accompanies moving to new surroundings. Lin is a member of AIREE (Association of Illinois Real Estate Educators) and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Roosevelt University. She specializes in teaching continuing education and pre-licensing review courses at RRES.
Maurice is a native Chicagoan rooted by values of diversity and community. As a Managing Broker and CEO of Centered International Realty Corporation, he is experienced in property investments, management and appraisals, and contract negotiations and sales. His expertise in utilizing digital tools for professional and strategic relationship development are best demonstrated in his technical use of mobile apps and crowdsourced data for leverage in the industry. Maurice specializes in teaching continuing education courses as well as designations and certifications such as PSA, RENE, Green, and CIPS at RRES.
James Kaplan is a graduate of the University of Illinois/Chicago. He is a licensed real estate broker and currently serves as Managing Principal of James Kaplan Companies, LLC which invests in and manages retail properties. Jim is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He has been involved with the Open Center, CSM (Certified Shopping Center Manager) and has been a member of ICSC’s Continuing Education Institute faculty for over 20 years. Jim is a past Illinois State Director and State Government Affairs Chair, past Central Division Chairperson for Government Affairs, and notably received the Trustee’s Distinguished Service Award. He specializes in teaching continuing education and leasing agent licensing courses at RRES.
Marki D. Lemons, CRB, ABR, ABRM, CRMS, MBA
In 2010 Marki was named the Illinois Real Estate Educator of the Year. Marki began her career in education in 1993 and currently works as a speaker and coach, teaching social media and technology classes for the National Association of REALTORS®, CHASE, Goldman Sachs 10k Small Businesses, REALOGY, and Chicago City Colleges. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Chicago State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Saint Xavier University.
With 25 years of marketing experience, Marki has used her dynamic, professional attitude and vast experience to become one of the top speakers in the country, relying on content from one of the fifteen classes she has authored. By consistently offering sound industry analysis and professional guidance, Marki’s expertise has been featured in The Chicago Tribune, Chicago Agent Magazine, Forbes, REALTOR® Magazine and has also been included on CBS News Chicago and CNBC. Don Martin, GRI
Don Martin began his real estate career in 1979. Shortly after that he began teaching in Arizona. He has extensive background in real estate law, contracts, and ethics. He managed real estate firms with over 1,000 affiliated licensees, developed dozens of courses and has taught over 100 real estate courses each year for the past ten years. His expertise and dedication to the field have earned him several awards in three associations. Over the last 25 years, Don has served as past president and on numerous committees of local and state associations. He also sat on the National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors from 1986 – 1990 and was the President of the Arizona Association of REALTORS® in 1987.
His career as a real estate educator has covered ethics and professional standards, fair housing, agency, contracts, and several risk management topics for hundreds of REALTORS® across the country. He is a certified mediator, professional standards consultant and an expert witness on broker standard of care and procuring cause issues. Don specializes in teaching continuing education courses at RRES.
Sam Martin, PhD, IFA, CDEI, MOT
Sam is a Certified Uniform Standards of Professional Practice (USPAP) Instructor and has taught appraisal and real estate classes since 1988. His influence extends over a variety of institutions, such as University of Phoenix (online), Triton College, and REALTOR® University (online). He holds Illinois Certified Residential Real Estate Appraisal, Real Estate Managing Broker, Pre-license Educator, and Real Estate Continuing Education licenses and has written an advanced appraisal textbook used in certification courses.
He is the owner of SamTheTutor.com, Inc. and earned his PhD in Education at Walden University. Sam is also currently a member of the Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professionals (ICAP), the Real Estate Educators Association (REEA), the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of the Association for Educational Communication and Technology (IAECT), and the national organization, the AECT. He is the recipient of the prestigious Educator of the Year Award for 2014 from the Association of Illinois Real Estate Educators (AIREE.org). Sam specializes in teaching continuing education and pre-licensing courses at RRES.
Jeanine McShea, ABR, GRI, Green
With over 25 years in the industry, both as a broker and an executive for prominent Chicagoland brokerages, Jeanine brings a level of professionalism and a network of connections to each partnership that she establishes with her clients, giving them a solid edge when buying or selling a home in the city. With a career in the real estate industry spanning from broker, managing broker, to vice president, Jeanine’s wealth of real estate knowledge and experience allows her to provide expert professional and business development support, as well as sound guidance throughout the transaction process.
Partnering with @properties has allowed Jeanine to once again assist clients interested in either purchasing or selling their first time home to transitioning to a downtown residence. Together, with her daughter Erin McShea, Jeanine oversees the McShea Group, which was founded on the premise of providing clients with the utmost expert counsel throughout the home buying or selling experience. Her passions outside of real estate including painting, the Blackhawks and serving on the Board of Directors for the Danny Did Foundation, a Chicago nonprofit focused on increased awareness of epilepsy. Chip Meyers was born and raised in Abilene, Texas. After graduating from Baylor University in 1968, he spent nine years in the U.S. Navy as a fighter pilot. When he finished his tour in the Navy, he began his career in commercial and investment real estate. He spent several years in sales and management in both San Diego and Albuquerque during which he managed the largest and most productive commercial and investment real estate firm in the state of New Mexico.
In 1990, Chip created a popular and successful course called the “Valuation of Investment Real Estate,” but ultimately rewrote it to the course it is known as today: Income Property Analysis. He currently teaches IPA in over 25 cities crossing several states. Chip has taught over 150 other seminars on investment real estate and tax laws and is an acknowledged expert on the various methods of evaluating yield, return, and value in investment real estate. He specializes in teaching Advanced and regular Income Property Management and Sales Skills at RRES.

Pat Murphy has practiced law since 1978 and taught real estate continuing education and pre-licensing classes since 1990. For over 30 years, Pat has practiced law specializing in real estate and acting as legal counsel for several local real estate offices.
In addition to his law practice, Pat has been a real estate educator for over 20 years, teaching a wide variety of real estate licensing, continuing education and informational programs. Recently he has been a contributing editor of the last two editions of Modern Real Estate Principals and in the compilation of the text for the new 6 Hour Broker Management Course mandated by the State of Illinois real estate licensing agency. He has served on multiple committees to update pre-licensing text books and develop new text books, online pre-licensing programs and managing broker texts.
As an Irish-Native American descendant (Choctaw), Pat brings a unique perspective of his experiences regarding diversity to his classroom presentations. He specializes in teaching continuing education and and pre-licensing courses at RRES.
Kathleen Ricketts, ABR, ABRM, AHWD, MRP
Kathleen is a broker with CENTURY 21 Affiliated in Algonquin, IL. With over 29 years of experience in the business, she specializes in selling, buying, first-time home buyers, relocation, and military. Not only is she a member of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®, the NATIONAL Association of REALTORS® and the Real Estate Buyer Agent Council, she also is closely involved in her community. Kathleen is a board member of the TLS Veterans of McHenry County, a member of the McHenry County Harley Owners Group, President of the Boulder Ridge Greens Property Owner’s Association, and Past Chairman of the Board of HELPING OUR HEROES. She specializes in teaching MRP courses at RRES.

Leo Schwartz is President of Schwartz & Brannin Real Estate and has been a licensed REALTOR® since 1996. He is also an Illinois Licensed Real Estate Instructor and specializes in residential and commercial properties. His background includes fundraising and marketing for the Performing Arts and a career as a free-lance musician.
Currently he is very active as a composer and conductor. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and a member of ASCAP. His musical Me and Al has been presented both Off-Broadway and as part of the Global Search for New Musicals at the International Festival of Musical Theatre in Cardiff, Wales. His choral and instrumental works have been performed by musical organizations in Boston, New York City, New Jersey, Houston, Denver, San Francisco, Palm Beach, and Edmonton, Canada. He is the conductor and artistic director for both the jazz big band SHOUT and the Lakeside Pride Clarinet Ensemble. Angela Walker, CNC, SFR, BROR
Angela Walker is the founder and owner of Angela Walker & Associates, a training and development company, as well as the Managing Broker and Owner of LakeWest Realty. After starting her real estate career in 2003, her success led her to starting her own real estate firm LakeWest Realty where she has applied her experience in luxury, first-time homebuyers, buyers and sellers, commercial real estate, banks, municipalities, and property management. Angela is also a Licensed Illinois Continuing Education Instructor with Train the Trainer and Pre-Purchase Instructor Certifications. She is a trainer for Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED) and has had the opportunity to speak at multiple MRED workshops and conferences. Angela specializes in teaching continuing education courses at RRES.
Terry Watson, ABR, CRS
Terry Watson is a trainer and real estate broker who specializes in effective and easily-implemented business and life strategies. He is known for his sense of humor and gift for engagement in his career and his everyday life. Terry is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), a designation achieved by less than 600 people. As founder and president of Watson World Inc., a real estate and leadership training company, he has dedicated himself to teaching real estate professionals how to avoid sabotaging business opportunities through habits and life outlooks. Terry specializes in teaching the Senior Real Estate Specialist course and continuing education courses at RRES.
Josh Weinberg, ABR
Josh Weinberg co-founded Keller Williams Chicago-Lincoln Park as part of Weinberg Choi Realty. He has also worked for Pulte Group, a Fortune 200 homebuilder, and during his time with Pulte, Josh learned the importance of quality construction and the financial aspects of the home buying process.
Josh grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and he has called Chicago home for 12 years. Outside of work, Josh has appeared on HGTV’s House Hunters and House Hunters Renovation. Josh won the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago Award and was on the 36 Under 36 List by the Jewish United Fund’s Young Leadership Division. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Bradley University and resides in Lincoln Park with his wife, Arin, their son and daughter, and their dog.

Taft West began his real estate career in the late 1970’s as an Assistant Manager trainee at a high-rise market-rate development. He went on to gain experience managing condominiums, affordable housing and public housing. After he received his broker’s license in 2001, he began working with Community Investment Corporation (CIC) as a contract trainer in the Property Management Training Program, teaching Preventive & Routine Maintenance Systems to property management students. In 2002, Taft joined CIC as the Deputy Director of this program and, after a hiatus of several years during which he pursued consulting projects, was named Director of Property Management Training in 2007.
The Chicago chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) awarded Taft its annual Premier Education Award in 2009 for outstanding commitment to enhancing the education of the Property Management Industry. In 2013, The Metropolitan Tenants Association of Chicago awarded Taft its “TENANT CHAMPION AWARD” in recognition of his support and commitment to Chicago’s tenants. The Association of Illinois Real Estate Educators (AIREE) recognized Taft as the 2013 Educator of the Year “in recognition for his outstanding dedication to real estate education.” Only one real estate educator per year in Illinois is honored with this designation. Taft attended University of Illinois and Roosevelt Universities. He specializes in teaching Essentials of Property Management at RRES.

Frank J. Williams
Frank J. Williams received his broker’s license in 1969 and went on to become a licensed instructor and appraiser. He has served on a myriad of committees for both the Chicago Association of REALTORS® and other associations, including as C.A.R.’s president from 1989 to 1990. The Illinois Association of REALTORS® chose Frank in 1991 to hold the first Distinguished Member Award for Community Service. The following year, he was named C.A.R.’s REALTOR® of the Year. In addition to receiving prestigious awards, Mayor Richard M. Daley appointed Williams to serve on the Affordable Housing Task Force and the Real Estate Services Advisory Council.
Williams’ ongoing love for education is apparent in his track-record with the REALTORS® Real Estate School. He has taught pre-licensing courses, multiple continuing education courses, diversity courses, risk management, ethics, finance and more. Williams continues to teach with enthusiasm and love for the real estate industry. He specializes in teaching continuing education and managing broker pre-licensing courses at RRES.
Vic Valenti, ABR
Vic Valenti has been teaching for over 20 years, and he currently instructs pre-licensing and continuing education courses. Vic’s enthusiasm for teaching will always be a priority in his life. His primary goal is to pass along his enthusiasm and love for the real estate profession to the students he teaches. In 2001, he was awarded the Master Ruby Certificate of Achievement and has been a top selling agent for three consecutive years. While working in the foreclosure market, he was appointed receivership of a 30-unit building. Vic, along with his team of agents, purchased and renovated the units to very marketable condominium conversions. Vic is currently the Director of the REO Department for Century 21. He oversees training and teaching both new and seasoned agents about purchasing and selling foreclosed property. Vic specializes in teaching continuing education and pre-licensing courses at RRES.
