City of Chicago Discontinues Multiple Dwelling Registrations

Effective September 6, 2017 the City Council passed an ordinance that repealed the Multiple Dwelling Registration provisions (Chapter 13-10 of the Municipal Code of Chicago). The Chicago Department of Buildings will no longer require or accept registrations of multiple dwellings pursuant to Chapter 13-10 effective immediately – building owners and property managers are no longer required to submit building registrations for multiple dwellings. With new technologies available, the forms are not necessary to collect ownership information. Please note that if you have sent a check to the Department of Buildings and it has not yet been processed, they will send the check back with a letter of explanation for building owners and managers’ records.
