First Cook County Tax Sale in Over Two Years To Take Place On November 5

Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas will conduct the first sale in more than two years of delinquent property taxes. About 36,000 properties are part of this first tax sale, totaling about $163.4 million in unpaid property taxes. However, of the 36,000 properties, 11,744 owe less than $1,000. These owners will receive a certified mailing informing them that their unpaid taxes are scheduled to be sold, which would put a lien against their properties.
