Eve L. Benton
Broker Pre-Licensing & Continuing Education
Eve L. Benton is licensed as a Pre-License Course Instructor, Continuing Education Instructor and REALTOR®. Her professional background includes real estate sales, personal financial advising and commercial lending where she managed a portfolio of small business relationships that included, but was not limited to, financing equipment, investment property and owner-occupied property. She spent 11 years in the Army National Guard and finished with an honorable discharge as a Commissioned Officer. She holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance.
Rosanna Diaz, Ed.D, MBA
Broker Pre-Licensing & Continuing Education
Rosanna Diaz is a Chicago native who has had an eclectic career in sales, marketing and operations consulting, teaching, training, research and administration. She began her real estate career as a sales associate when she bought her first property in 1986.
In addition to managing her own property, over the years Rosanna has worked in real estate as an appraiser, mortgage broker, leasing agent and is currently licensed as a real estate broker and instructor in the State of Illinois.
Rosanna holds a doctorate in Adult Education and Administration from National Louis University and an MBA in Marketing and Research Methods from DePaul University.
In addition to teaching real estate at CAR, Dr. Diaz teaches both undergraduate and graduate level business classes to adult students, both on-ground and online.
Aaron M. Joiner
Aaron M. Joiner a licensed Realtor, Pre-License Instructor and Continuing Education Instructor. He began his real estate career as a Sales Associate in 1997 and currently serves as Managing Broker and Owner of A & L Enterprise, LLC Real Estate Company. He is dedicated to providing professional, friendly and quality service. He specializes in first-time home buyers.
Aaron has a passion for teaching and loves sharing his experiences with an audience. He enjoys making them feel like the time spent with him was worth it as they embark or continue with their real estate endeavors.
Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He spent 23 ½ years as an Engineering Technician with the U.S. Department of Justice. During his tenure, he managed operational building structure projects, conducted in-depth and problem-solving methods, and taught classes to new and existing employees to keep them current on updated policies and procedures.
Leasing Agent Licensing & Continuing Education
James Kaplan is a graduate of the University of Illinois/Chicago. He has been a licensed real estate broker since 1972 and currently serves as Managing Principal of James Kaplan Companies, LLC and JPJ Investments, LLC, which invests in and manages retail properties. Jim is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He has been involved with the Open Center, CSM (Certified Shopping Center Manager) and was a member of ICSC’s Continuing Education Institute faculty for over 20 years. Jim is a past Illinois State Director and State Government Affairs Chair, past Central Division Chairperson for Government Affairs, and notably received the Trustee’s Distinguished Service Award. He specializes in teaching continuing education and leasing agent licensing courses at RRES, where he has been teaching since 2013.

Leo Schwartz is the editor of the 9th edition of Dearborn’s Modern Real Estate Practice in Illinois and has served as a subject matter expert on numerous publications. He has been an Illinois real estate licensee for 20+ years and is the managing broker of Schwartz & Brannin Real Estate. A licensed instructor for 12+ years, he is the creator of RealEstateExamPro.com, an online practice review for the Illinois State Broker licensing exam. He loves his work as a trainer and mentor to practicing licensees. Leo is also an multi-award winning composer as well as the founder and executive director of Flying Elephant Productions, a theatre company devoted to the promotion of the work of unrepresented communities.

With over 16 years of success in real estate and 20 years as an educator, Risa Weiss gives back by teaching courses to help other brokers grow their businesses. She runs the training program for new brokers at @properties and teaches pre-licensing and continuing education at the Chicago Association of REALTORS® Real Estate School and at the North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS®.
Risa has won numerous real estate industry awards, including Rookie of the Year, Chairman’s Award, President’s Award and Listing Leader. Additionally, she has appeared on several episodes of House Hunters, My House is Worth What? and Buy Me. In her spare time, Risa volunteers at the local high school in the Show Choir, Band and Theater departments. Frank J. Williams
Managing Broker Pre-Licensing & Continuing Education
Frank J. Williams received his broker’s license in 1969 and went on to become a licensed instructor and appraiser. He has served on a myriad of committees for both the Chicago Association of REALTORS® and other associations, including as C.A.R.’s president from 1989 to 1990. Illinois REALTORS® chose Frank in 1991 to hold the first Distinguished Member Award for Community Service. The following year, he was named C.A.R.’s REALTOR® of the Year. In addition to receiving prestigious awards, Mayor Richard M. Daley appointed Williams to serve on the Affordable Housing Task Force and the Real Estate Services Advisory Council and Hall of Fame Inductee of 2017.
Williams’ ongoing love for education is apparent in his track-record with the REALTORS® Real Estate School. Chip Meyers was born and raised in Abilene, Texas. After graduating from Baylor University in 1968, he spent nine years in the U.S. Navy as a fighter pilot. When he finished his tour in the Navy, he began his career in commercial and investment real estate. He spent several years in sales and management in both San Diego and Albuquerque during which he managed the largest and most productive commercial and investment real estate firm in the state of New Mexico.
In 1990, Chip created a popular and successful course called the “Valuation of Investment Real Estate,” but ultimately rewrote it to the course it is known as today: Income Property Analysis. He currently teaches IPA in over 25 cities crossing several states. Chip has taught over 150 other seminars on investment real estate and tax laws and is an acknowledged expert on the various methods of evaluating yield, return, and value in investment real estate.

With over 12 years of experience, David has a vast knowledge of the real estate market on both the sales and on the lending side. He specializes in first-time home buyers and lending in the military space.
He is a Vice-President at The Federal Savings Bank, specializing on Conventional, FHA and VA home loans. David is also an instructor for the National Association of REALTORS® teaching the Military Relocation Professional Program, the President of Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals Chicago Chapter, and recently appointed by the Mayor to be a Member of the Advisory Council on veterans for Chicago Commission on Human Relations.
Essentials of Property Management
Taft West began his real estate career in the late 1970’s as an Assistant Manager trainee at a high-rise market-rate development. He went on to gain experience managing condominiums, affordable housing and public housing. After he received his broker’s license in 2001, he began working with Community Investment Corporation (CIC) where he eventually moved from a contract trainer in the Property Management Training Program to Director of Property management Training in 2007. Today, he is the Vice President of Technical Assistance and Sustainability for the Chicago Community Loan Fund.
The Chicago chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) awarded Taft its annual Premier Education Award in 2009 for outstanding commitment to enhancing the education of the Property Management Industry. In 2013, The Metropolitan Tenants Association of Chicago awarded Taft its “TENANT CHAMPION AWARD” in recognition of his support and commitment to Chicago’s tenants. The Association of Illinois Real Estate Educators (AIREE) recognized Taft as the 2013 Educator of the Year “in recognition for his outstanding dedication to real estate education.” Only one real estate educator per year in Illinois is honored with this designation. Taft attended University of Illinois and Roosevelt Universities.

Continuing Education Instructors
Myer Blank is a Senior Tax Manager at the law firm of Fisk Kart Katz & Regan, Ltd. He focuses on property tax appeals management and property tax incentives. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Blank was a Senior Manager at True Partners Consulting. In addition to managing clients’ property tax valuations, Mr. Blank has extensive knowledge of local and state property tax matters. He was Executive Director of the Chicago Tax Assistance Center since 2001, a City of Chicago department that assisted homeowners with property tax appeals, exemptions, and refunds. As part of his responsibilities, he testified before state and local committees on tax policy. Before working for the city, Mr. Blank was Director of Policy Analysis for The Civic Federation, a local taxpayer watchdog group.
Mr. Blank has a Masters of Arts in Public Policy Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Chicago.
Mitchell E. Chapman
Mitchell C. Chapman received his law degree from The John Marshall Law School, in Chicago Illinois. He is the owner of The Chapman Law Group, LLC, located in Evanston, Illinois, a firm that represents individuals and business entities in matters involving real estate transactions, title insurance claims, landlord-tenant issues, bankruptcy, as well as real estate broker defense to civil matters, ethic complaints, and disciplinary actions. Mr. Chapman also represents condominium associations and home owner associations.
Mitchell Chapman is a licensed General Contractor and a Real Estate Broker licensed in Illinois, Arizona and in Florida. He has been teaching continuing education classes and pre-licensure classes since 1996. His class presentations incorporate his experiences as an attorney, real estate broker and general contractor.
Lin Ewing, a native Chicagoan, was licensed in 1993 and currently holds a managing broker’s license. She has served on many advisory boards and councils and has written numerous residential real estate continuing education courses. Her teaching background expands from teaching English as a foreign language in Switzerland to teaching continuing education and pre-licensing courses to REALTORS®.
Lin is a member of AIREE (Association of Illinois Real Estate Educators) and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Roosevelt University.

Lucas Fuksa is an attorney and founding partner of Fuksa Khorshid, LLC. He focuses his practice on real-estate development, financial transactions, business and corporate matters, and mechanics lien and construction litigation. Lucas regularly assists some of Chicago’s busiest developers and investors in their acquisition and development of real estate assets, including multi-use developments, condominiums, retail spaces, hotels, and single-family homes. Lucas is skilled in negotiating and preparing transactions involving the purchase and sale of financial instruments including real-estate-backed banknotes, and creatively structures the acquisition and financing of real-estate developments. Lucas is also a licensed real estate broker and member of the Chicago Association of REALTORS®.
Jim Hochman brings his 40+ years of experience as a practicing real estate attorney to his many teaching assignments. Jim was Senior Vice President and Division Counsel with CBRE Inc. for more than 22 years (1982-2004). In that period, he pioneered and ran CBRE’s in-house continuing education program. Jim is a partner at Schain Banks Kenny & Schwartz Ltd., a Chicago firm known for its practice in real estate transactions, zoning, and specialists in real estate brokerage law. He is a member of the faculty at John Marshall Law School, taught at Chicago Kent College of Law (1980-1983), and is presently on the faculty for the Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS® (SIOR), teaching a 6 hour course on understanding the commercial lease. Jim has spoken and taught CE, literally coast to coast in the U.S. and Canada. As the author of several states’ broker lien acts and statutes on license portability, and counsel to many national and local brokerage firms, Jim is known as the Broker’s Lawyer. He is a graduate of Brown University and Boston University School of Law, and retired as Commander from the United States Naval Reserve.
Tonya Jernberg is the Co-Founder and co-owner of Transitional Living Company and Realty TLC. Prior to becoming a licensed REALTOR® and Real Estate instructor, Tonya worked as the head of consumer insights and market research for several of the world’s largest international marketing and communications firms. This role allowed Tonya to live and visit countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia, resulting in 1) her exposure to the concept design-for-all and 2) her quest to challenge aesthetics and traditional methods via education as it pertains to residential design and the things that go into houses. Together with her husband and business partner, she has become an expert on universal design and the accessible home, appearing on TV and radio. Currently in the process of releasing the book, “Home is Where the Access Is,” Tonya helped developed a proprietary tool (trademark pending) that inspires great universal design ideas for consumer home improvement projects based on an assessment of both the people who live in the home and the inherent issues specific to the house and its structure that negatively impact accessibility. The tool is at the heart of the Home Accessibility Digital Marketplace, an innovation ecosystem, that is a research and marketing tool and communication channel for value creators, service professionals, home builders, insurance companies and healthcare practitioners.
Lema Khorshid is one of the founding partners at Fuksa Khorshid, LLC where she handles a wide range of legal matters for small- to mid-sized, closely held businesses in Chicago and New York. She frequently assists her clients with corporate transactional and intellectual property matters, and, for the past several years, she has also been lead counsel on several mergers and acquisitions that have taken her clients all over the globe.
Lema is frequently invited to guest speak at Small Business Centers all over Chicago, where she teaches workshops to entrepreneurs on a myriad of practical legal and business issues that affect their businesses. In 2009, Lema was honored by the Business Ledger for being one of the twenty-two influential women in business in Chicago.
Don Martin began his real estate career in 1979. Shortly after that he began teaching in Arizona. He has extensive background in real estate law, contracts, and ethics. He managed real estate firms with over 1,000 affiliated licensees, developed dozens of courses and has taught over 100 real estate courses each year for the past ten years. His expertise and dedication to the field have earned him several awards in three associations. Over the last 25 years, Don has served as past president and on numerous committees of local and state associations. He also sat on the National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors from 1986 – 1990 and was the President of the Arizona Association of REALTORS® in 1987.
His career as a real estate educator has covered ethics and professional standards, fair housing, agency, contracts, and several risk management topics for hundreds of REALTORS® across the country. He is a certified mediator, professional standards consultant and an expert witness on broker standard of care and procuring cause issues.
Charlie Moriarty, RPA, has nearly 20 years experience in the asset management, property management, and leasing of commercial properties. He has worked on both acquisition and disposition teams for several Chicago loop properties and has been an instructor for several real estate associations and organizations.
Charlie began his real estate career managing retail malls for Westfield, including General Manager positions at the Louis-Joilet and Old Orchard malls. For the last 15 years he has overseen individual properties and office and retail portfolios throughout Chicago. Some of the properties Charlie has worked on include One South Wacker, 300 South Wacker, 10 South LaSalle, 125 South Clark, and 645 North Michigan.
With a keen interest in cost control techniques and a team-centric approach, Charlie’s teams have consistently delivered NOI results better than budget. Charlie’s creative and strategic approach to real estate has consistently led to investor returns that have far exceeded owner expectations.
Charlie has a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University. He holds an Illinois Managing Broker’s license and he has a Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from BOMA. Charlie loves to teach and has been a real estate instructor for BOMA, BOMI, CAR, and the volunteer non-profit REAP Chicago.
Diana M. Peterson, President of SVN AuctionWorks, has 20+ years of experience in law, real estate brokerage and auctions. Prior to founding SVN AuctionWorks, an independently owned and operated franchise, Peterson served as Executive Vice President of Auctions by ATG. Peterson built the auction platform for Auctions by ATG and ran the company, utilizing the expertise she previously acquired launching and operating a real estate brokerage company, PMD Realty, LLC, for over a decade.
Peterson earned a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she served as an editor of the Minnesota Law Review, and before that, acquired a Bachelor of Arts (with honors) from the University of Chicago. Apart from her Illinois law license, she holds an Illinois real estate managing broker’s license and an Illinois auction license. Peterson is also a certified REO broker and personal property appraiser.
Chris Pezza is currently the VP of Operations for Miller Chicago,LLC. His experience includes over 12 years of Investment Sales and Property Management on over 3,500 units. Chris is a past board member for the Chicago Association of Realtors and stays active with the Illinois Realtors and the National Association of Realtors as a committee member. He obtained his Masters of Real Estate from Roosevelt University in 2018.
Ed Riggins started his career in 1984, and has been teaching live CRE courses and speaking professionally since 2001, and offering on-line courses since 2015. Often among the top producers nationally for Cresa Global, Riggins is a Life Member of the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS®. He is among less than 1% of practitioners who hold both the SIOR and CCIM designations, has been named among “Commercial Real Estate Who’s Who” by Atlanta Business Chronicle, and a “Power Broker” twice by Costar. Riggins has served on the Boards of several real estate-related organizations and has authored dozens of articles. He is a graduate of Auburn University, has completed Harvard’s Program on Negotiation, and has performed live standup and improv comedy.
Scott Siegel, MBA
Scott is an award-winning broker whose career in real estate has spanned more than 25 years and has covered virtually every facet of real estate from banker, investor and principal to property manager, developer and contractor.
He is a licensed Illinois Managing Broker, a licensed Real Estate Continuing Education Instructor and the author of: “How to Analyze & Underwrite Apartment & Mixed-Use Buildings Like a Pro; Using The Tools you Already Have in Your Pocket.”
Presently, Scott is the owner of EGP Realty, a full-service, boutique-style brokerage and advisory firm. In addition, he is the COO of GMP Development, an MBE certified design-build general contracting firm and, in 2017, he co-founded GMP Labs A Workforce Development & Vocational Training Academy where he serves as both Chief Administrative Officer and Board Chairman.
As Regional Renovation Manager for loanDepot, Jose Valdovinos has had the distinct privilege to share his passion for renovation lending for over two decades! Training hundreds of Real Estate professionals on the many benefits of financing almost any home, in almost any condition with one loan is where Jose’s passion lies. A father of 5 (who never sleeps), born and raised on the North side of Chicago – Jose gives back by speaking at underprivileged schools on the importance of good money habits, credit and positive attitude. Jose also devotes his time as a Board Member at NAHREP (National Association of Hispanic Real Estate) who’s mission is to advance homeownership for all.
Angela is the founder and owner of Angela Walker & Associates, a training and development company, as well as the Managing Broker and Owner of LakeWest Realty. After starting her real estate career in 2003, her success led her to starting her own real estate firm LakeWest Realty where she has applied her experience in luxury, first-time homebuyers, buyers and sellers, commercial real estate, banks, municipalities, and property management. Angela is also a Licensed Illinois Continuing Education Instructor with Train the Trainer and Pre-Purchase Instructor Certifications. She is a trainer for Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED) and has had the opportunity to speak at multiple MRED workshops and conferences.
Margot Weinstein juggles several roles successfully within the local, national, and international real estate industry. For twenty years, Margot was Vice President of a commercial real estate company, Kingston Group Inc., where she was responsible for overseeing all areas of the business. In 2001, she received a “Good Neighbors’ Award” as a co-developer of Silver Oaks by the Chicago Association of REALTORS®. Margot is highly sought-after by clients for her extensive knowledge and diverse background in real estate. She is a real estate broker at Metropolitan Real Estate Group where she works with clients from the United States and abroad.

William Endsley is the Principal Consultant for World Citizen Consulting and has over fifteen years’ experience in developing international market strategy and has traveled throughout the Americas, Asia, Europe and Africa working to develop professionals in the finance and real estate sector as a means for broader economic development and global security. He is currently working with the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and IHC Global on the International Property Markets Scorecard Methodology. He is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University and has guest lectured at Johns Hopkins and George Washington University. He previously served as the Director of International Relations for the Appraisal Institute where he directed the organization’s entry into China, Germany, Korea and Turkey.

With over 25 years in the industry, both as a broker and an executive for prominent Chicagoland brokerages, Jeanine brings a level of professionalism and a network of connections to each partnership that she establishes with her clients, giving them a solid edge when buying or selling a home in the city. Josh Weinberg co-founded Weinberg Choi Realty in 2007 after working for Pulte Group, a Fortune 200 homebuilder. During his time with Pulte, Josh learned the importance of quality construction and the financial aspects of the home buying process.
Josh grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and he has called Chicago home for 12 years. Outside of work, Josh teaches a real estate course at the Chicago Association of Realtors Real Estate School. He has appeared on HGTV’s House Hunters and House Hunters Renovation. Josh won the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago Award and was on the 36 Under 36 List by the Jewish United Fund’s Young Leadership Division.
Josh resides in Lincoln Park with his wife, Arin, their son and daughter, and their dog. Josh has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Bradley University.
