Mandatory Ethics Training Deadline: Dec. 31, 2018

All REALTOR® members are required to complete 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics training per two-year cycle. The current training cycle is January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018 Failure to comply with this required ethics training is a violation of a membership duty, for which the member’s primary association will suspend membership until the training is complete. The only REALTORS® exempt from this requirement are REALTORS® with REALTOR® Emeritus status. Appraisers or Attorneys must meet this membership requirement and are not exempt.

THERE ARE MULTIPLE WAYS TO COMPLETE YOUR MANDATORY ETHICS REQUIREMENT

FREE DOWNLOADABLE ETHICS COURSE

This non-CE course provides REALTORS® with a reliable reference for guidance in dealing with complex ethical situations in the daily practice of real estate. Students learn how the Code of Ethics help them fulfill their obligations to their clients, customers, the public, and each other. Click here to download this course. Students are required to sign and submit the affidavit of course compliance in order to receive credit for this course.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® ONLINE TRAINING COURSE

The course can be completed in one session (approximately 2 1/2 hours), or completed in parts within 30 days from the start. After each Quick Review Quiz, the course can be exited and started again with the next lesson. Failure to complete a Quick Review Quiz prior to exiting the course will require that lesson be taken over. Individuals have 30 days from the original start date to complete the entire course without having to re-register and start from the beginning. You will need your NRDS number to access the course, as our site links to the NAR site. Please contact the Membership Department to obtain this number. Use the link below to access the on-line REALTOR® Ethics Training course developed by the National Association of REALTORS®. The course meets all learning objectives and criteria for the Ethics Training Policy (Policy Statement 48, NAR Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual).

OTHER REAL ESTATE SCHOOLS

If you have done any of the following, fax your course completion certificate, course transcript or class roster to 312-803-4905 so we can report your compliance to NAR:
  1. Taken an approved ethics course from another real estate school
  2. Taken an ethics course from a trainer in your Broker office
  3. Received your GRI designation after 12/31/16
NOTE: This is a National Association of REALTORS® mandate, NOT a requirement of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation or its Continuing Education course requirement. However, if you take an Ethics CE course, you will meet part of your CE requirement as well as the NAR® membership mandate.
