Millennials Favor Mortgage over Marriage

Some millennials say they would rather afford to buy a home than spend money on a wedding or honeymoon. A Redfin survey found 38 percent of American millennials (aged 18-34) say they would, or have, put off a wedding or honeymoon to afford to buy a home. Couples who buy a home together may eventually get married, but prefer to make down payments now rather than heading down the aisle. It’s hard not to argue buying a home together may be a bigger commitment than a marriage. Divorce can be an easier option than splitting financial assets.
