For the 5th straight year in a row, China led all nations in total amount invested in US residential real estate. India was the only other Asian country in the top 5 of major sources of international buyers. On the whole, foreign buyers purchased homes at a higher average and median price than US buyers, with China leading all nations in every price category.
NAHREP – State of Hispanic Homeownership Report
In 2017, 7,472,000 Hispanics owned a home, an increase of 167,000 from 2016’s numbers.1 This increase equates to a Hispanic homeownership rate of 46.2 percent for 2017, an increase of 0.2 percent from 2016’s percentage. Hispanics are the only demographic to have increased their rate of homeownership for the last three consecutive years.
Dearborn REALTIST Board (NAREB) – State of Housing in Black America
The Black homeownership rate rose from its near 50- year low of 41.3 in the third quarter of 2016 to above 42 percent in the first two quarters of 2017.
NAGLREP – 2017 LGBT Real Estate Report
The 2017 NAGLREP Homeownership Survey found the Supreme Court ruling may have brought even more than an increase in marriage ceremonies, as the LGBT community is showing a greater interest and desire to own a home. The survey found 47% of NAGLREP members believe more LGBT married couples are buying homes than before the decision, while 46% believe the entirety of the LGBT community is more interested in homeownership. Additionally, 57% of those surveyed reported LGBTs with children have increased, leading to a the belief that more LGBTs will move to the suburbs (29%).
