This award is based on the outstanding contributions of a REALTOR to the Chicago Association of REALTORS, the Illinois Association of REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS. The recipient must demonstrate what is called “REALTOR Spirit”, which is embodied by faithfulness to the principles of the REALTOR organization, professionalism and the Code of Ethics.

REALTOR® of the Year: Hugh Rider

Hugh Rider Hugh Rider has been an outstanding leader for the Chicago Association of REALTORS® for many years, with a focus on public policy issues at all three levels of the REALTOR® organization. Among his many roles, he served as the 2015 president of the Chicago Association of REALTORS® and chairman of C.A.R.’s Property Management and Public Policy Coordinating Committees; he will return as chair of the Public Policy Coordinating Committee this coming year. Hugh is active in Illinois REALTORS® and is a director for the National Association of REALTORS®. He was recently inducted into NAR’s RPAC Hall of Fame, and is known for his extraordinary expertise on property management matters. He is the guiding force behind a local advocacy partners’ initiative that seeks a unified voice on legislative issues across the industry. His involvement with his family business, Realty & Mortgage, Company, began shortly after college, when he joined his father, a C.A.R. past president, in real estate. Since then, the company has become one of the largest residential property management firms in the city. Hugh’s integrity and passion positively impacts the community and sets a distinguished standard within the Chicago Association of REALTORS®.
