What’s Your Learning Style?

type-of-learner-715x643 Are you a visual learner? Or do you learn better by listening? Understanding how your brain works can help you learn more effectively. One of the most common and widely used synopsis of different types of learning styles is Neil D. Fleming’s VARK model. VARK stands for Visual, Aural, Read/write, and Kinesthetic sensory modalities, and was developed to better help students learn more about their individual learning preferences. In this way, learners are identified by whether they prefer visual learning (pictures, movies and diagrams), auditory learning (music, discussion and lectures), reading and writing (making lists, reading textbooks and taking notes) or kinesthetic learning (movement, experiments and hands-on activities).
