Former C.A.R. President Named A NAR Vice President for 2016-2017

#Guzman_MabelFormer C.A.R. President Mabél Guzmán, was announced as a 2017 NAR Vice President at the NAR Board of Directors’ meeting in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, May 14. Guzmán will fill the VP position which focuses on association affairs. She is joined in NAR 2017 President Bill Brown’s cabinet by NAR President Elizabeth Mendenhall and VP Kevin Sears. She has a long history of involvement at the local, state and national levels, serving as C.A.R.’s president in 2011 in addition to her involvement on the Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors. She’s been involved at the national level for several years, most recently serving as the chair of the NAR Conventional Finance Policy Committee, where she established a working group focused on addressing the problem of student loan debt and its impact on homeownership and affordability. In 2014, she testified before the U.S. Senate Banking Subcommittee on how to make housing more affordable. As VP, her goals include ensuring the committee structure works to best reflect the current and future issues before NAR. She’ll partake in this summer’s NAR strategic planning.
