Chicago Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) CEO Ginger Downs received the 2014 Elevate Award from the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Chicago Chapter for her strong leadership in real estate on Friday, July 18.
The Elevate Award is given annually to an individual or company fostering the growth and advancement of women professionally. A REALTOR® association leader since 1983, Downs has served as C.A.R.’s top administrator since 2005.
“As REALTORS®, we highly regard C.A.R. CEO Ginger Downs for her leadership, vision and tireless work to advance our industry,” said Sam Powell, president of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® – Chicago Chapter and REALTOR® with Dream Town Realty. “Downs is a longtime supporter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®, and we are pleased to recognize her with this year’s Elevate Award.”
Her designations include the National Association of REALTORS® – REALTORS® Certified Executive (RCE), the American Society of Association Executives – Certified Association Executive (CAE) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – graduate of the Institute of Organizational Management (IOM). Downs also received the NAR Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation.
“C.A.R. is always proud to receive recognition from organizations that further our reputation as Chicago’s voice for real estate, and no one could be more deserving than Ginger,” said Matt Farrell, president of the Chicago Association of REALTORS® and managing partner of Urban Real Estate.
Downs also volunteers on the real estate advisory boards for DePaul University, Roosevelt University and REALTOR® University, where she serves as treasurer.
A longtime advocate for the homeless, Downs earlier this year became president of All Chicago – Making Homelessness History, a collaborative partnership of the Chicago Alliance to End Homelessness and The Emergency Fund. All Chicago unites our community and resources to provide solutions that ensure and sustain the stability of home.
