Nancy Suvarnamani
President, Century 21 S.G.R., Inc, INDUCTED September 14, 2016
Under the sparkling lights of the Radisson Blu banquet hall on Wednesday night, the real estate community gathered to honor exceptional members of the Chicago REALTOR® family at the 133rd annual Inaugural Gala. The event included the installation of the Chicago Association of REALTORS® 2016-2017 Board of Directors, and honored several individuals for their contributions and positive influence, among whom was the newest Hall of Fame inductee, Nancy Suvarnamani.
Induction into the Chicago Association of REALTORS® Hall of Fame is a great honor, one that is reserved for those professionals with truly outstanding contributions to the real estate industry. Therefore, it was no surprise that the 2016 inductee would be Nancy Suvarnamani. Not only is Nancy a past president of the Chicago Association of REALTORS® and founder of the Chicago chapter of the Asian Real Estate Association of America, she is an inspiration to immigrant women everywhere for her lasting impact on the Chicago and global real estate industry.
“I have never looked back or regretted one moment of the ride. To me it is a great career, one where the sky is unlimited, you control your own destiny, you can truly help others, and you work with great people,” Nancy said in her acceptance speech.
She arrived in the U.S. in 1974 to complete her master’s degrees, spending fifteen years in the corporate world before founding Century 21 S.G.R. Incorporated in 1989. Her passion for mentorship and education has helped numerous Top Producing agents succeed, and her relentless promotion of the opportunities in the international real estate market brought a global spotlight to Chicago.
Today, Nancy has built Century 21 S.G.R. Incorporated into a major developments marketer in Chicago and Asia. As the first Asian woman president of CAR in 2005-2006, she designed an outreach program to solicit members’ needs and strengthen their connection to the Association, especially Asians and other minorities on the industry’s fringes. Her unwavering devotion to colleagues, friends and family has only enhanced her professional success and reputation, with treasured partnerships stretching back over twenty years.
Character, accomplishment, reputation, and contribution to business, culture and the environment are all essential for the Hall of Fame. Nancy’s indelible legacy of what it means to embody all these attributes is not easily summarized in a biography or evening, yet her message couldn’t have been conveyed in words any less than her own.
“That I’m here tonight is an expression of never letting any barrier hold you back. We all have so much potential if we simply believe in ourselves. Tomorrow is another day full of opportunities that I look forward to,” Nancy said.
