The Chicago Association of REALTORS® honored their former president and longtime real estate advocate Dan Wagner at their 134th Inaugural Gala on Oct. 9 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel.
A REALTOR® since 2005 and the Senior Vice President for Government Relations for The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Wagner is heavily involved in REALTOR® government affairs efforts at the local, state, and national levels. He has been an outspoken advocate for protecting the 1031 Like-Kind Exchange and mortgage interest deduction. He served as the 2015-2016 President of C.A.R., 2016 Commercial Liaison for the National Association of REALTORS®, and is the 2018 Illinois REALTORS® President-Elect.
Wagner’s personal advocacy is equally as admirable as his professional work. He is the Past Chairman of the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce, is actively involved with the Village of Oak Brook, and is a commissioner on the DuPage Airport Authority. In 2014, he received the Advocacy Award from the Illinois Park and Recreation Association for his work on behalf of special needs children in his community.
“Dan has a work ethic second to none; he has been a tireless champion for private property rights and the REALTOR® organization, particularly in his efforts to educate our legislative representatives and community members on the importance of the mortgage interest deduction and 1031 like-kind exchange.” Matt Silver, president of the Chicago Association of REALTORS® and partner at Urban Real Estate, said. “As his friend and as his peer, I’ve admired his counsel and his exacting vision. It is an honor to bestow him with this year’s REALTOR® of the Year award.”
The REALTOR® of the Year Award is given to those who have spent over ten years as a REALTOR® demonstrating exemplary leadership on a variety of levels. Additionally, the recipient must be faithful to good real estate practices and the Code of Ethics.
