The Sarah L. Ware Empowerment Scholarship centers minority-owned and woman-owned brokerage firms in the real estate industry and works to advance their involvement. This scholarship provides financial assistance for attending industry conferences, events and meetings or paying dues for membership in CAR’s Industry Partners. Having attended numerous industry events through her extensive involvement in the real estate sector, often with expenses reimbursed, Sarah L. Ware recognizes the importance of representation and being in the room. This scholarship will support these firms, ensuring their voices are developed and heard at critical real estate tables all over the world.
Eligibility:
- The Designated Managing Broker (DMB) must be a primary member in good standing with the Chicago Association of REALTORS®
- The brokerage firm must be 100% minority and/or woman-owned, as defined by SBA guidelines. (Applicants will self-identify on the application)
- The brokerage must have been in existence for at least three years
- Broker must be licensed for at least three years to be eligible
- Brokers can apply for scholarships with approval from the DMB
- Reapplication for the scholarship is allowed after three years
- The scholarship is not based on financial need
FUnding And Reimbursement:
- Reimbursements will be provided for eligible expenses up to $500
- Eligible expenses must be incurred no later than one year from the award date
- Expenses must be related to Chicago Association of REALTORS® events or the Association’s Industry Partners
- Travel to or attendance at any CAR event, NAR NXT, RLM meetings, or strategic partner conference is eligible
Please note, the quarterly deadlines to apply for the fiscal year are:
- WINTER: November 1st
- SPRING: April 1st
- SUMMER: June 1st
- FALL: August 1st
