Complemented by dancing, live music, and lots of laughs, the event included the installation of the Chicago Association of REALTORS® 2018-2019 Board of Directors, and honored several individuals for their contributions and positive influence, including the recipient of the REALTOR® Community Service Award. The REALTOR® Community Service Award recognizes outstanding achievements of a REALTOR® to his or her local community as well as active association participation.

REALTOR® Community Service: Alicia Ruiz

Alicia Maria Ruiz is a champion community advocate and is at the forefront of grassroots community development. She is passionate and believes that home ownership should be available for all families.  With a special focus on issues for single moms, youth, veterans and seniors in her community, Alicia works endlessly to ensure they are within reach of needed resources.  Proudly, she serves as the current alderwoman in Berwyn. In this role, amongst her other responsibilities, she initiated a Proclamation for Young Latina Day as a message to encourage and advocate for higher education for youths. This initiative builds partnerships to bring scholarships to the local high school with entities such as ComEd, CEDA and the Fig Factor Foundation.  Additionally, in her role as Chair for the Chicago Association of REALTORS® West Towns Chapter and Foundation Board of Trustees, she encourages her fellow REALTORS® to engage and give back in their communities. Alicia’s commitment to service and positive change has improved lives for many families and the communities that she continually and tirelessly serves.
