Mayor Lightfoot and Chicago Department of Housing Announce Third Round of Rental Assistance Funding

This week, Mayor Lightfoot and the Chicago Department of Housing announced they would be adding a third round of funding to the Emergency Rental Assistance Program totaling $79.8 million.

This funding will provide up to 15 months of assistance for renters and landlords who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. To be eligible for the rental assistance, you must:

  • Be a Chicago resident
  • Have suffered job loss, reduced hours or illness caused by COVID-19
  • Be at risk of housing instability
  • Have earned less than the maximum household income during 2020 or at the time of application
