Volunteer Spotlight: LaShaun Brown-Glenn

Get to know our members who share their expertise to help shape the future of our association and industry!

We chatted with RPAC Fundraising Work Group member LáShaun Brown-Glenn, EXIT Strategy Realty, to find out more about her career path, why she volunteers and more.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY?

I’ve been in the real estate industry for 27 years, but I’ve been licensed for 12 years.

WHY WERE YOU INTERESTED IN GETTING INTO REAL ESTATE?

Initially, my husband and I wanted to create financial security for our retired years and give our children the gift of college without debt. Later, I discovered that I could use my knowledge and experience to serve others. I saw a way to share that real estate is more than the American dream of homeownership.

WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT IN YOUR CAREER TO DATE?

Honestly, it would have to be driving through the neighborhoods that my husband and I grew up in, which we are now rebuilding one house at a time.

WHAT HAS HELPED YOU MOST TO GET WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

First, I’m blessed with incredible mentors who have graciously poured into me and supported my journey. Additionally, I am an avid learner and I continually invest in my personal and professional development. I genuinely believe that when you stop learning, you stop living.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR CAREER?

I enjoy many parts of my career. My greatest joy is helping the individuals that thought homeownership wasn’t possible and seeing the smile on their faces when they receive the keys to their new house. I enjoy teaching new REALTORS® and consumers about the process and benefits of investing in real estate. Finally, I enjoy rehabbing houses and seeing the project through from start to finish.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OTHERS WHO ARE LOOKING TO TAKE THEIR CAREER TO THE NEXT LEVEL?

Decide who you want to serve and the difference you want to make, then align yourself with like-minded individuals. Sometimes, you will have to go at it alone because everyone may not see the big picture. Do it despite the naysayers and release the dream killers.

Also, don’t allow distractions that don’t align with your purpose and passion.

WHAT DOES VOLUNTEERING MEAN TO YOU?

Volunteering on a CAR committee means that I have the privilege of giving back to the industry, contributing and being a change-maker. It means I’m not sitting on the sidelines, hoping and wishing for better. I am working with others to create it.

WHAT HAS BEEN MOST VALUABLE TO YOU/YOUR BUSINESS SINCE YOU GOT INVOLVED IN OUR INDUSTRY?

Being surrounded by so many great minds and seeing successful people in action is very motivating! It drives me to push beyond my limits, and it’s given me a boost of confidence and willingness to voice my opinions without fear. There’s excitement and a sense of pride when you see the results of something you help to create.
