Renew Your Code of Ethics By December 31, 2024!

All REALTOR® members are required to complete 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics training per three-year cycle. We are currently in the Seventh Training Cycle, from January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2024.

Failure to complete this required Code of Ethics Training by December 31, 2024, is a violation of your REALTOR® membership obligations and will result in suspension of your membership until training is completed. Appraisers and attorneys – this Code of Ethics requirement applies to you too! The only REALTORS® exempt from this requirement are members with REALTOR® Emeritus status.

What is the Code of Ethics?

The Code of Ethics emphasizes professionalism, integrity and the protection of the public, ensuring that REALTORS® conduct their business in a manner that promotes trust and confidence in the real estate profession.

What do I need to do?

If you are not yet compliant, you have two options to meet the Code of Ethics requirements before the December 31st deadline:

  1. Complete the free online self-paced Code of Ethics training offered by Chicago Association of REALTORS® here. Your transcript will automatically be sent to our Membership Team upon completion.
  2. Already completed your Code of Ethics training somewhere other than Chicago Association of REALTORS®? Please click here to upload a copy of your transcript to our portal showing completion of a Code of Ethics course. We will review and update your records.

Thank you for your commitment to upholding ethical standards in the real estate industry!

Note: Code Of Ethics training is a National Association of REALTORS® mandate; NOT a requirement of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) or its Continuing Education course requirements. However, if you take an Ethics CE course, you will meet part of your CE requirement as well as the NAR membership mandate.
