Managing Broker of the Year 2017 Recipients

The real estate community gathered at the 134th Annual Inaugural Gala on Monday, October 9, for a beautiful evening at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel honoring members of the Chicago REALTOR® family. The event included the installation of the Chicago Association of REALTORS® 2017-2018 Board of Directors, and honored several individuals for their contributions and positive influence on the industry, among which were the recipients of the Managing Broker of the Year award. The Managing Broker of the Year Award recognizes a REALTOR® in good standing with at least five years of experience as a Managing Broker, with current active involvement at the local level, recognized business accomplishments and high principles of faithfulness to the principles of good real estate practices and the Code of Ethics among other brokers and the public. This award has two distinct categories: 1-50 Licensees and 51+ Licensees.

Managing Broker of the Year 1-50 Licensees: Sonia Anaya

Sonia Anaya has been operating her own brokerage, America Real Estate, Inc., for almost 20 years and has been a licensed broker since 1990. On top of being a wife and mother of four, Sonia has dedicated her time to her brokerage, her community in Chicago and her hometown of Michoacán, Mexico. She was named Top Producer in 2010 and 2011, is a member of the RPAC President’s Circle and is a Golden R RPAC Investor. Sonia is admired by her firm not only for her passion for the industry, but also her commitment to volunteer work. She continues to work tirelessly to improve the lives of others, including her clients and brokers.

Managing Broker of the Year 50+ Licensees: Drussy Hernandez

Drussy Hernandez began her career in social work in a child abuse unit where her sense of compassion and need to help others flourished. She changed career paths and entered real estate in 1984, where she began to build long-lasting relationships with clients and found her passion for fostering growth in the REALTOR® community. She credits much of her drive and work ethic to a very important event in her life: a three-day breast cancer walk spanning 60 miles. Drussy uses her communication and service-oriented skills at CONLON/Christie’s International Real Estate to nurture new agents and promote an encouraging team environment.
