Volunteer Spotlight: Don Pasek, Global Real Estate Council Member

Get to know our members who share their expertise to help shape the future of our association and industry! We chatted with our 2021-2022 Global Real Estate Council member Don Pasek, Omniterra Real Properties, Inc., to find out more about his career path, why he volunteers and more.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY?

25 years

WHY WERE YOU INTERESTED IN GETTING INTO REAL ESTATE?

I was intrigued after a conversation with a neighbor.

WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT IN YOUR CAREER TO DATE?

I am very proud of the two companies I opened and continue to operate. I am also proud of being able to work with many clients who had difficult circumstances to resolve.

WHAT HAS HELPED YOU MOST TO GET WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

Having a group of colleagues that I can rely on for advice when I need it. Being a member of CAR has also helped.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR CAREER?

Being a part of helping others to realize their dreams, whether it’s a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned investor. Closing a transaction and knowing I’ve satisfied a client is a big incentive to continue working in real estate. Their happiness is my happiness.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OTHERS WHO ARE LOOKING TO TAKE THEIR CAREER TO THE NEXT LEVEL?

Don’t worry about money and don’t be discouraged if progress comes slowly. Success comes and goes in this industry, so you need to be prepared. Be active in your community, and in your association. Having a good network will help guide you through the hard times and lift you in the good times.

WHAT DOES VOLUNTEERING MEAN TO YOU?

It means contributing to the success and professionalism of the industry. It also means providing more opportunities for CAR members to expand their businesses.

WHAT HAS BEEN MOST VALUABLE TO YOU/YOUR BUSINESS SINCE YOU GOT INVOLVED IN OUR INDUSTRY?

Networking events held by the local, state and national associations have been the most helpful. These provide an opportunity to share ideas with colleagues and learn more about how real estate brokerages work. Also, regarding Global Real Estate Council, organizing trade missions to Chicago and traveling overseas to our colleagues abroad has improved my perspective on real estate practices and how to improve service to clients.
