The Chicago Association of REALTORS® proudly presented our 136th Annual Inaugural Gala on Thursday, September 26. During the festivities, we debuted our 2019-2020 Board of Directors and honored several members for their contributions throughout the year, including the recipient of the Brian A. Bernardoni Public Policy Award.
The Brian A. Bernardoni Public Policy Award is based on the outstanding contributions of a REALTOR® or affiliate member in the public policy, political and/or legislative advocacy area and in keeping with the REALTOR® Party spirit to “Vote…Act…Invest.”
Brian A. Bernardoni Public Policy Award: Hugh Rider, Realty & Mortgage Co.
Hugh Rider has been at the forefront of CAR’s advocacy initiatives since 2004, when he first met Brian Bernardoni and became a member. He’s been active on our Government Affairs Committee and Public Policy Committee, and he currently serves as the Chairman of the Illinois REALTORS® Public Policy Committee. He is a longtime RPAC Major Investor. In the spirit of protecting private property rights, Hugh has taken on some of the most contentious public policy initiatives. He has, and continues to, fight for amendments to the RLTO, advocate against unfair property tax burdens and participate in countless discussions, meetings and initiatives around everything from addressing the issues of lead pipes to opposing rent control and championing fair housing. Hugh’s career is dedicated to protecting real estate practitioners, the clients they serve and the city in which we live, work and play.
