Many REALTORS® believe that their professional integrity and worth depends on the hours they put into their jobs. Real estate can be an around-the-clock career at times. But this mindset can be detrimental to your personal life, mental health, your general wellbeing and so much more.
It is important that we make sure to handle our personal problems as they arise, because putting them off can lead to larger, more dangerous problems down the road. Beginning healthy and practical habits ensures we are prioritizing our wellbeing.
Here are some steps that we can take to ensure we are leading our best lives.
Set boundaries with your business and clients.
Setting boundaries in your career and sticking to them is critical. Communicate with your clients what those boundaries are early, so they can determine if you are a right fit for them and vice versa.
Make time for important things outside of work.
Whether it’s your passions outside of work, planning personal time like vacations or carving out time to spend with loved ones, spending time doing things that make you happy will help make you feel more fulfilled. Make sure to focus on them.
Take time for your mental health.
Your health is your most valuable asset. I’m not just talking about your physical health, but also your mental health. A great starting point is to change your negative thoughts to positive ones. Your perceptions will become your reality, so make sure to remember that before letting negative thoughts take over.
Know when to see a professional.
It can be hard to acknowledge when we need help from someone else. Being able to tell when something isn’t right and knowing when to seek outside assistance isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of strength and self-awareness. Plus, talking to an unbiased person outside of your life can be a great way to get a new perspective on yourself and those around you. If we ensure we are creating a healthy personal life, it will continue to every other facet of our lives. With these tips and tools, I hope we can all aim to become the best versions of ourselves.
