Forward-thinking DEI requires a 360-degree view of where the Chicago real estate industry has come from, where we are and where we’re going. That’s where the Chicago REALTORS® 360° Summit comes in.
We’re creating a space for the Chicago real estate community to learn about key DEI topics, forge powerful connections with inclusive leaders and explore new ways to be a champion for diversity, equity and inclusion in our communities. Join us for an interactive and empowering experience you don’t want to miss!
Homeownership is the number one wealth generator in the United States; it’s also the foundation Paula Williams Madison and her family used to build their own. In this session, Paula shares lessons learned, the importance of finding your roots, how homeownership affects our career-defining moments and how she uses her voice to promote inclusivity regarding access to generational wealth.
Today, an estimated 1.3 billion people – or 16% of the global population – experience a significant disability. Now more than ever it’s important that REALTORS ® know how to serve clients with a disability. Hear inspiring stories on how everyday actions involving compassion, responsibility and service can transform lives. John hopes that his presentation will encourage a greater understanding of accessibility when it comes to discussing and applying diversity, equity and inclusion.
We’ve read the stories in the news and industry reports of continued bias in appraisals. The facts remain: bias impacts not only communities of color, but ALL communities. During this discussion, we welcome national leaders and experts who are advancing solutions to this ongoing issue through policy, advocacy and education.
A “brave space” is a place where people of all identities feel encouraged to speak freely, even if what they share is outside the norm, uncomfortable or challenging. This open dialogue is used to challenge personal biases and create room to learn from one another.
During this session, all questions will be submitted anonymously and addressed by our panel of experts. No question will be off limits. Come with an open mind and challenge yourself to participate!
Our goal is that this discussion will lead to honest, understanding and informative feedback from our fellow attendees on how challenges and misunderstandings might be addressed. Topics on generational/cultural/religious/orientation differences, unfair housing, equality vs. equity, ageism, bias, micro-aggressions, etc., are expected to be discussed.
Respect is mandatory during this session.
