Celebrating Our Hispanic Community This Hispanic Heritage Month!

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15. We work to celebrate homeownership for all, including the Hispanic community.

Keep an eye on our upcoming events page for a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration event in early October.

Meet the Industry Leaders

Thank you to these inspiring individuals who make an impact in our industry!

Introducing Treasurer Drussy Hernandez

Treasurer Drussy Hernandez, Coldwell Banker Realty, began her term on October 1, and she is also of Hispanic heritage. Get to know her through her Q&A below.

Q: What do you love most about real estate?

A: I love the engagement with clients and helping them find the right home. It’s a very rewarding experience.

Q: Why did you decide to get involved in CAR?

A: I started getting involved with CAR when I found out more about the issues impacting our industry and how important it was to have a voice at the table through government affairs. Then I saw the many other opportunities to give back to our industry and found a passion for other committees like Forms & Contracts and Professional Development.

Q: You have been installed as CAR’s 2022 treasurer, the fourth of Hispanic heritage in the association’s history. How significant is this to you?

A: I find that being the treasurer of the association is a huge honor and I am grateful for the opportunity. Latinos don’t get opportunities like this very often and it’s significant because of the chance to work alongside our leadership to address the needs of our members.

Q: What are your main priorities as treasurer?

A: I want to continue our efforts in establishing long-term financial goals for our association while ensuring that our strategies will be effective.

Q: What are your favorite things to do to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month?

A: I celebrate with family and friends and it’s all about the food. Street fairs have always been fun but limited since 2020, a very unfortunate outcome.

Q: What’s your favorite Hispanic-themed documentary, TV show, movie and/or book?

A: I absolutely loved Money Heist on Netflix. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters were very entertaining.
