In 2017, 7,472,000 Hispanics owned a home, an increase of 167,000 from 2016’s numbers.1 This increase equates to a Hispanic homeownership rate of 46.2 percent for 2017, an increase of 0.2 percent from 2016’s percentage. The 2017 NAGLREP Homeownership Survey found the Supreme Court ruling may have brought even more than an increase in marriage ceremonies, as the LGBT community is showing a greater interest and desire to own a home. The survey found 47% of NAGLREP members believe more LGBT married couples are buying homes than before the decision, while 46% believe the entirety of the LGBT community is more interested in homeownership.
