Get to know our members who share their expertise to help shape the future of our association and industry!
We chatted with our 2021-2022 Grievance Committee member Christina Breuer McNamee, @properties, to find out more about her career path, why she volunteers and more.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY?
18 years
WHY WERE YOU INTERESTED IN GETTING INTO REAL ESTATE?
I wasn’t really. After graduating from college, I ended up taking a sales associate position for a new home builder which set the foundation for my real estate career.
WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT IN YOUR CAREER TO DATE?
I sold $19 million in 2021, and my team total achieved a total of $25 million.
WHAT HAS HELPED YOU MOST TO GET WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?
My early career in the new construction industry helped set a strong foundation for me to sell homes. I am lucky to have a strong local network from growing up in Gurnee, going to college in DeKalb and then working for Pulte Homes for six years.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR CAREER?
I enjoy that there are limitless paths in real estate.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OTHERS WHO ARE LOOKING TO TAKE THEIR CAREER TO THE NEXT LEVEL?
Be thoughtful in your approach to helping and serving others without asking for anything in return. Be known as the local real estate expert and the favors will be returned organically in referrals and repeat business.
WHAT DOES VOLUNTEERING MEAN TO YOU?
Volunteering at CAR means getting a glimpse into how an association operates and influences an industry. I’m proud to be a small part of that process.
WHAT HAS BEEN MOST VALUABLE TO YOU/YOUR BUSINESS SINCE YOU GOT INVOLVED IN OUR INDUSTRY?
Being involved in CAR has hands down changed the way I run my business and has made me a better REALTOR®.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT YOUR REALTOR® STORY?
I became licensed in 2009. It took me almost 10 years to get involved in the association. I wish I had done it sooner. In the beginning, I guess I didn’t understand the benefit, but it really has improved my business operations and improved my working relationships with my peers in the industry.
