Introducing Our New Placemaking Project: Life at the Intersections Mural

Through our placemaking efforts, we recently partnered with the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce to complete our newest project, a mural titled Life at the Intersections, located on the south wall of The Clark at 5340 N. Clark St. in Andersonville. This new mural celebrates the diverse lives that overlap on the bustling streets of the community. Artist Molly Costello created the mural by interviewing 77 local residents and business owners as inspiration for the piece, which also includes highlights of the neighborhood’s LGBTQIA+ and activist legacies, in hopes of inspiring reflection on alternative community safety, wellness, mutual support and care.  “Our association is proud to represent all of Chicago, and we are working to ensure all our communities are healthy, vibrant and diverse places to live, work and play. Through our placemaking efforts, we are investing in communities all around our city, including Andersonville,” said President Nykea Pippion McGriff. “We are proud to sponsor this mural, which celebrates the diversity of the residents in our communities.”  We helped fund this project through its placemaking program and through grants provided by the National Association of REALTORS®. Placemaking provides a way for community stakeholders to work together and make a neighborhood a better place to live, work and play, and helps build comprehensive communities.
