The Chicago Association of REALTORS® Foundation – Midyear Update

From January 2019 through April 2019, the Chicago Association of REALTORS® Foundation gave $22,000 to Chicago non-profits, schools and community organizations. Here’s how we’ve given back:

KIPP Chicago Public Schools

KIPP Chicago is a network of seven public charter schools in some of Chicago’s most under-resourced neighborhoods on the south and west sides, and strong schools are fundamental to strong neighborhoods. “The schools empower students with the character and academic skills necessary to succeed in top-quality high schools and universities, and to have a positive impact on their communities,” 2019 CAR Foundation Vice Chair Julie Harron said. “KIPP Chicago’s alumni graduate high school, matriculate into and graduate from college at higher rates than their Chicago Public Schools peers. CAR’s support for the schools can have a profound impact on the leaders of tomorrow.” Read more.

Habitat For Humanity

Supporting Homes For All Habitat for Humanity believes everyone deserves a decent place to live — and so do we. We were proud to sponsor and attend Habitat for Humanity’s Benefit Breakfast in the spring, where we celebrated the strides made over the past year and Habitat shared their plans for the future. Sarah’s Circle

Sarah’s Circle Since 1979, non-profit Sarah’s Circle has provided housing and support for women who are experiencing disabling conditions and homelessness. “REALTORS® provide housing to our clients, but we also recognize some of the most vulnerable among us are also in need of housing,” 2019 CAR Foundation Chair Coby Hakalir said. “Sarah’s Circle provides interim housing to women who have disabling conditions or deal with chronic homelessness. Providing a gift again this year helps provide service to those who need it most.” Read more.

The 2019 Matt Silver Advocacy Endeavor Scholarship

The Matt Silver Advocacy Endeavor Scholarship provides minority men and women who are interested in participating in CAR’s advocacy efforts the opportunity to see our advocacy efforts first-hand at NAR’s Legislative Meetings in Washington, D.C. This year’s recipients were Dont’a Taylor, A.R.E. Partners, and Lauren Lowery, Finders Plus Real Estate. They participated in visits with legislators and saw our influence in action! Read more.
