Now armed with tools for creating content, Titans of Industry empowered attendees to not only find, but also use their voices.
“I knew how to sell real estate,” Megan Oswald, 2020 president of Women’s Council of REALTORS® Chicago and REALTOR® at Fulton Grace Realty, said. “I needed to learn how to sell myself.”
For her, success resided in her ability to speak up for herself, and this panel encouraged women to help others do the same.
“Make sure you are uplifting other women,” Erika Villegas, co-owner of RE/MAX in the Village, said. “Get involved with an industry organization and take a leadership role to include your voice.”
Her point was reiterated by Mabél Guzmán, REALTOR® at @properties and the panel’s moderator. “Promote each other and talk each other up,” she said. She urged women to take action rather than remain complacent. “Do more than say you support them.”
Amy Duong Kim, a REALTOR® at Compass, had similar advice for the Titans in attendance. “Get a friend you can trust and be honest with,” she said. “Give each other feedback.”
At the end of the day, finding your voice has to include using your voice. “Advocate for yourself and your community with pride, with passion and to the best of your ability,” Oswald said. “If you know what you’re talking about, speak up. Use your voice.“
